The jelly is so effective that it is still an invariable ingredient in what is known today as the “Koch’s plating technique” or the “culture plating method.” As Koch himself noted in 1909: “These new methods proved so helpful…that one could regard them as the keys for the further investigation of microorganisms…Discoveries fell into our laps like ripe fruits.”
